Why Valentines Day?
This Valentine’s Day I'm wiser than the last. I'm reminded that relationships are simply relationships. There is no such thing as a ‘wonderful couple’ or a ‘terrible couple’. There are simply ‘couples’. Man and Woman united by chance or by choice and fated to spend the rest of their lives together for better or for worse. The better being like the icing on the cake when two people get to experience many firsts and get to know each other and be fascinated by everything that is new. The newness of it all seems enthralling and it seems like this is what all the books and fairy tales talk of what love it. On the other side, once the better is over, the worse creeps in. You realize that all the icing is over and all that remains is the ugly cake with all the icing licked off. You can simply throw the ugly cake away, but you don’t.
